yes, they are all from laysan island, northwestern hawaiian islands. i will post some from one of the other islands later but for now another white tern from that set.

hahah, it took me an hour and a half to crawl the few hundred metres on my belly to get that close to the short-tail. 10 min or so spent with the bird then another long crawl away so as not to flush him!

Wow, that is awesome. I wish I could sit that long lol.
 
I know this is borderline inapropriate but its just too good not to share. This sharpshinned hawk was as interested in me as I was in him. With my camera aimed and ready, he turned his back to me, took one look over his shoulder in my direction and 'let one go' in a most acrobatic fassion. As if to say "This ones for you buddy" I am positive hes looking at me thru his legs at this moment. And then the look over the shoulder in the last frame as if to say "so wadjya think?"
I could tell he was about to do something interesting so I was ready with the shutter in continuous mode. Enjoy!
