Beautiful Louis! I particularly like the 1st one. The hanging moss adds some wonderful contrasting texture / color. Did you take that near you?

The stewie bird is a King Fisher species. Strangely enough fish isn't on the menu though. It eats snakes, other birds, mice, and the like. Especially snakes.

The best thing about these birds, the Kookabura, is their laughs which I hear every morning. When I first came to Australia I swore they had monkeys here. Have a listen:

RB - no, took those all down by my Parents house in Fla. They live near the "Dora Canal". There were tons of birds, it was amazing. Gators, turtles, all sorts of stuff. In fact I have an image of a yellow Warbler on a branch. At home I was editing and had two widows open so the bird was covered by another image. Then I noticed something in the background I hadn't even seen...a snake on the same branch! It was a beautiful place. Looking forward to going back with bigger memory cards this time.

The kookaburra is a really neat bird. The one pictured was VERY comfortable around humans. He was on a deck and let me creep right next to him.

:) - pretty wild right? Total luck...that bird was flittering all over the place. Didn't stay in any one position very long. It would have been cool if I had noticed the snake so I could have gotton some pictures of it too (at least ones with him sharp as the subject not a blur in the background).

Blur???, I'll show you blur!!!!!!! This is my buddy. He purches here every day. Was one of the reasons I got the POS tamron 28-300, and one of the reasons at some point in the future, I'll have to get the 300 f4. These have been cropped to death.

Those are some wild looking birds!

Jesse - you'll LOVE the 300F4 -especially with a 1.4X tele :) Very versitile lens, and sharp as a tack.
