Birdsnest loosing tissue

Everything has been going do well in my tank. It is looking better then it has in a long time. Now my birdsnest is loosing tissue. Originally it was just the tip of one small branch. I thought maybe i rubbed it wrong or something. So i snapped off the tip. Now it is another branch. There is nothing near it that could sting it. The other SPS are doing fine.

A few weeks a eternalreefer came over and measured my PAR. I was just over 200 about half way down which is the lowest I have any SPS. After that I lowered my light from 10" above the water to about 4" above the water. This raised my PAR about 20%. Due to the increase I switched 2 of my 6 t5s off to let everything acclimate to the closer light.

The other thing that is a little weird is that my toadstool is dropping babies or something. I have had 2 chunks fall off of it. It still has good PE. Even the pieces that fell off have PE. But it doesn't seem like its dying. Is it? I have removed the pieces. Should I take out the toadstool?

I don't measure any phosphate or nitrate but I know i have some because i have a little algae. I have noticed more cyano since I lowered the lights. I am going to raise them back up.

Run carbon. Grant mentioned last time that toadstools release some type of chemical that inhibits/harms SPS...

Or maybe you have something nipping at the birdsnest?

Also check your pH and salinity.

1) If you use two-part, your salinity may have slowly crept up.

2) Recently, my pH was low (due to an old pH probe measuring high) that may be causing some of my SPS to STN on me.

My birdsnest is very temperature sensitive, and was never fully happy until I stopped the daily temp swing. Just an observation. Birdsnest seems to be more sensitive than my acros. It could very well be the toadstool, but would the toadstool put off defensive chemicals if it is multiplying? I was under the impression that corals multiply when they are happy.
