birth of 2 builds totaling 30k gallons

Bad news. While I was on vacation yalcin found one of my peperments dead!!!!!no idea.!! This was the first one. Didn't eat out of water column as well as the other one. So upset

No we lost narcosis months agao to swim bladder issues. She started to swim upside down. Maybe these 400ft deep fish should be left down there

Sorry for your losses, seeing the care you put in this tank, it does not bode well for folks with more "regular" setups.

Very sorry to hear this. How long did you have him for? Anything change while you were gone?

Sorry about the narcosis as well, I really liked that fish. You might be right about the fish being left at their comfort depth. It seems like 1/10, maybe even less survive for long after being removed from the ocean. If you do try again, I wish you good luck

Perhaps someone should be nudging those people who have been successful breeding dwarf angels to give the peppermint a try. The failure rate in keeping the wild-caught ones is too high to justify IMHO.

Thx guys. I have a theory but I can't prove it. This one that died was my reef picker. Really never ate from water column well. I think it just got too weak and ran out of food vs what they eat in natural. My other one eats anything out of water column and is more aggressive.

If this is the case, have you considered building a larger tank with more live rock and sponges for deepwater fish only.

Thx Denise. About a year. Not sure if it caught some oodinium from neighboring tank from new conspic or just would have happened anyway. Well I have one good one ready for a friend.
