Well no big threads here. Just need to figure this out as we go along. Today I learned about micro volts in uv filters and how many I needed to kill certain things looks like a 7 or 8 bulb unit on 2 pumps. I meant micro jewels.

I am trying to follow along here.....hedgedrew: you are the owner of this massive tank? Who is nyyalcin? (posting all the pics)
thanks
Frank
P.S.: Are you located on Long Island? Joe is the President of our reef club LIRA....are you a member?

Yes in long island. Old westbury. Yalcin works for me. I'm the owner. Yes I knoow Joe well. He helped me plan for this sucker and did the rockscape inside. Modeled it and worked his but off for me for hours and days. I consult with him also.

Anybody have thoughts on nutrient nitrtate phosphate for this tank and 2500 gallon sps? I was thinking massive pellet reactor for this 14k cause I didn't want to drip lathium or change gfo for such massive system. Although I may have to anyway. Or other way to go... a denitrator. sulfur or methane. But then I have to deal with phosphate anyway. Then on sps tank I was thinking definitely a denitrator but people make me so nervous with the sulfur and or methane in terms of poisoning tank accidentally

I think the size of the tank qualifies you for public display aquarium status, so you should be asking what do the big guys use? Definitely Joe Yauillo is one source I'd confer with. Also, you may want to contact the people at the Steinhart. Charles Delbeek there has been a long-time contributor to reef hobby periodicals. They could give you an idea of what the really big tanks are using. Honestly, I think your tank's requirements are way beyond the equipment normally used by most hobbyists.

For what its worth,...I think your right with the pellet reactor. I use to follow "dvanacker" thread until he decided to take a break from reefing for awhile. Darryl's tank was TOTM Dec 2012,....simply beautiful corals he had. His philosophy was keep it simple. He ran pellets, and said pellets seem to work best if you start your system with them instead of adding them at a later date. Then the bacteria will grow to keep up with the systems demand,...as long as you size the reactors accordingly.---Rick

On a side note,....hey Drew,...you ever sneak up on the workers to overhear their conversations at the lunch table,....you see the size of this thing?....this guys got to be crazy! (imagine in a Bronx dialect) :lmao:

Oh ya. Maybe they think it's going to leak also. Lol. That's next big test btw. Freshwater rinse and leak test. Coming in few weeks.
