Bite marks on new turaki

I just recieved a beautiful Acropora turaki from divers den. Upon inspection I noticed a ton of bite marks from what I think is aefw. The only dip I have is coral rx. I don't want to toss it in the trash but don't want to infect my tank either. Any suggestions

Bite marks on new turaki

Qt? If it has definite bite marks and worms comes off after a bayer dip, if i didn't have a qt, I would honestly pitch it in the trash

If you like to gamble cut off the plug and the leave the last 1/4 of coral attached. Glue remaining tile to a new frag and pray to whoever you prefer than an egg cluster, or a single worm didnt transfer with it...

5 gallon bucket with a pump will keep it alive for several days. Meantime order Bayer and dip it when you get it. I do not trust Coral Rx to kill AEFW and for sure you don't want that thing near your tank AND even when you do dip it, I would most definitely break off the base.

Conversely you could contact LiveAquaria and ask for your money back. Personally I would think that is fair.

That's a real shame that it came from them. They're a HUGE supplier in the US and if they have AEFW this hobby is in even bigger trouble then it is now in terms of this pest. I am building an entire second reef just because of that darned worm

E-mail LA and they will immediately refund your money. Simple as that.

Rehabilitation of infected corals can be time-consuming and resource intensive. This is especially true if you don't a QT system.

The risk associated with exposing your DT to the AEFW are probably not worth it.

They refunded my money and told me to discard the coral. What a shame. I also asked what their qt method was and they said they observe the corals for at least two weeks and treat if needed. They say they are inspected before shipment. I don't see how that was possible in this case. I am by no means an expert but those look like aefw bite marks and I noticed them instantly. I felt aweful throwing the coral in the trash. I did attempt to dip in coral rx first and didn't see any aefw come off the coral. Didn't want to risk it though. How do aefw spread through the tank? Do they swim or crawl on the rocks?

They swim or crawl. They can live for quite some time without any acros so one can only assume that they can live for the same amount of time crawling to the next coral.
