BK's 110 Gallon Build

I have done exactly what you said not to do. Once hey bleached I dropped them as low as I could. I'm also very tempted to " fix things" when I should just wait it out.

These frags came from a tank that's 16" deep. The lights were about 16" above the water line and the frags about 8" below it. The catch is the lights were the Radions and I have MH. Is there a way to compare the two without a Lux Meter?

Hard to say without measuring, especially since the leds are dimmable.

Day 3 of the experiment. The rack is now 10" from the bottom on the left side. I was too afraid to move it to the front glass and the bottom so this seemed like a good compromise.

At this time I would see the polyps retreat usually. I know it's too early to tell but I don't see those signs at this time.

Fingers crossed!!

That's promising!

So all the frags bleached after about 10 days which is about 9 days longer than usual. Still not good enough!

The weir thing is that on one frag plug there was a 1" frag and then a 1/4" frag about 1/4" from it. That 1/4" frag look to be the same coral and is doing really well. Why would that happen?

Hey BK, I can't tell from the pic, is there a glass shield on that reflector? If not, DE HQI bulbs emit UV and need a glass shield or they'll fry your corals with UV.

They are all bleached and don't seem to have any life on them except for one 1/4" clone that seems to be doing well.

The monti caps went 1st. Then the acros and lastly the ORA birdsnest. I could see small holes in the flesh then it would peel off over a couple of days and then the polyps would desperate a couple of days later.

I think I'm going to wait on the next test until I have the Ca reactor running. Then I'll also start with the frag rack at the very bottom and move it up every 3 days only 1/2"-1" up.

Who knows, maybe. It doesn't seem to be a problem for anything else but SPS. I guess I can add some amquel to the RODI water.

Did a 50 gallon water change in 12 minutes yesterday. It's so nice to have a simple yet effective system for water changes finally. Now they may actually happen.

Finally the fish are back in the tank! 10 weeks is a freaking long time.
