Black Electrical Tape, is it reef safe?

I realized that I've recently expanded the OD of a couple fittings using regular black electrical tape. Is there anything in there I should worry about?

e.g. Don't use that tape you idiot, it is filled with copper!!

Thanks Cliff, very helpful as usual.

Anyone else used black electrical tape long-term in any reef application underwater?

I've never used it on my tank, but I can say that electrical tape and water don't mix well IME. Seems like it always looses it's sticky pretty fast. But for sizing up a fitting, the sticky may not be whats holding it.

A few years back, I used electrical tape as a gerry rig to close a hole on the output of a pump for a GFO reactor. Considering there is pressure, it lasted a few months. I later did as Highlander suggested and replacing it with silicone tape. That lasted longer. Finally got around to replacing the pump. No ill effects.

I've used a little electrical tape exposed to the water , here and there over the years without any noticeable ill effects.
