This is a thread for Black Percula Clowns, or Onyx Clowns whatever you prefer to call them. Post pictures of yours and tell expeirences.

Here is my juvinile Shadoww in her 12 gallon aquapod. Sorry for the bad pcitures. She is a beautiful miss barred clownfish. Shadow is very active friendly and I can hand feed her. She is a model citezin and is active. Shadow was also tank bred. I will post more and hopefully better pictures of her.

You might get better response if you change the title. There are no "black perculas" and it is a confusing term since that name has been used for black saddle backs, black ocellaris, onyx true percs and even some times for black clarkii. Black ocellaris or Darwin black ocellaris might get more response.

You don't think you're oversimplifying things? Black Percs are actually the black morph of Ocellaris clowns not Percs and while people will know what you mean it's a misnomer and will only further confuse people in the hobby. However Onyx clowns are a different species (A. Percula).
In Conclusion you have a Black A. Ocellaris not the same thing as an Onyx A. Percula.

Whats a black perc..ermm, nevermind..

Well, here's a few pics of My Onyx® :D

I love to contribute to clown threads..

thanks by the way. She was sold to me as a Black Percula Clown so I guess she is a onyx true percula clown.

That looks way more like the onyx to my untrained eye. My black ocellaris only has a little orange on the face, and he's a baby so will only get more black.

Here is my black ocellaris and his boss, my orange ocellaris:

Here is a picture of 4 black ocellaris at various stages of growth and color. They all turn black.

What food do you feed them or other conditions to make them turn totally black? Mine still have the upper body and mouth not too black.

They all eventually turn black. No special food.

What normal food do you feed them? :D Just trying to get a sense of what I am missing in my diet :)

Flake, mysis, F1, F2, pellets, cyclopezee, etc. Like I said I don't think you are missing anything. Just give it time.

I noticed some mating pairs at Tropicorium, even after they are breeding stock they still have some orange mouth (the male), so I am hoping it will all turn black.... and not stay like that.
