Blackthunda77's 80 Gal to 195 Gal upgrade!

That's it down the street from my house. I'll go there at least once a week for lunch. Sliced pork sandwich on garlic bread with bbq baked beans, fries and coleslaw... Yum! Yum!

:uzi: Not fair! You guys are really making me hungry. Wished I could go more often.

Hey eddie, the x factor and the purple cap are starting to get a little light on me. You ever encounter that? How high are your lights from the surface of the water?

I couldn't kill any of those 2 if I tried, Actually I recommend you keep the grape cap isolated, I'm having an invasion problem with it as we speak. It will encrusts all other corals. Keep it isolated. I've even tried expoxying the crap out of it with no good results.

My lights are 8-9" above water line.

Thank you, Eddie.

Yes I'm live in Naples, but I'll let you know when I go to Miami or I'll ask John to pick it up for me next time he goes.

Ok well a small update. Ive been having mixed results with dosing NOPOX. I seem to have been over dosing it even though i have been going by the suggested dosage. I waited for the water to clear up 100% from that bacteria bloom i presume was from overdosing. Nothing seemed stressed aside from a couple frags of digi, one of which stn'ed a little but seems to have stopped. I have since followed the vodka dosing regimen from the reef keeping magazine article. Started down at .1ml per 25 gals, which for me is .8mls. Now im on the next tier which is 1.4mls for the next week.

At the moment, im seeing the cyano, (however much is left) becoming dark brown and stringy, and its having a hard time rebounding. Also, my sand is quite a bit whiter, and im no longer seeing that short fuzzy hair algae on my rocks.

Phosphates are still pretty much undetectable on the salifert kit. Nitrates are somewhere around 10-15, i dont know, my eyes cant differentiate those levels on my salifert and api kits. Maybe ill take a picture and post it up here and get some opinions. Powerhead also no longer has that short fuzzy algae either and is getting more and more covered in coraline (which is a good and bad thing). All in all, tank seems "cleaner". Ive still got a couple mLs left of the nopox which should last me through the week at this dosage. After that ill most likely be switching to the DIY two part of vodka and vinegar.

Api results. One with the vial a couple cm away from the card and one with the vial directly on the vial.

This is what I think.

1. 20
2. 40 maybe 30
3. 30 - 35
4. Definitely more than 50. My guess would be + - 65.

Looks to me 25 all across...

API first and second are same water test right? The light from above hits the test differently from one to the other. And on Salifert you only have to see it from above. Sides view is used if you are bellow 10.

At night I do my test in the laundry room. The light is soft white and the background is white. During the day in front of a window with indirect light.

So I think we're moving in the right direction now...

Only problem is, it won't fit in the stand. The sump walls are a but too high. But once I get it in, space is not an issue. Tomorrow I'll probably have to cut a 1"x6" notch out of the top of the sump, it's just BARELY not clearing and I don't want to force it to Crack either the sump or the skimmer. Shouldn't be too much of an issue since I built the sump myself from scratch.
