Bleached or Dyed?

You can argue that the mouth is yellow instead of red, but if EC can say green is yellow, then what can prevent them from saying red is yellow. What a bunch of bulls

Yep, here are the pics on my real camera. I sent him an e-mail back asking for a refund, and filed a complaint with my credit card. Should have known it was too good to be true. :(

I've been seeing so many nems sold lately that are nowhere near their true or natural color, and it really bothers me.
At least that nem looks good for first day of intro, maybe at least they will cut you some kind of break, or credit.

Is it just me, or is there a light green around the edge of the anemone in the original picture? That would make sense if it was a poor photoshop job. I hope you get your refund! I, personally, still think it is beautiful.

It does look healthy. And it is beautiful, just not something I would have spent the money or, or taken up this much room in my tank...

Woogiekids...you have my sympathy with regards to what is apparently a case of false advertising :(
This is just another case for "better to buy local, as seeing is believing"...
I also commend you for taking the necessary actions in getting a refund for goods "not received as ordered" and not lying down and just accepting it...

Unless there is a reasonable explaination for this, I will agree with OrionN and be sure to keep EC off my list of vendors :thumbdown

Update: he offered to refund my money if I ship it back. I don't know a) how to ship it back, b) if I want to stress that nem out by shipping it again. It is a beautiful creature.

Well that is just sad, shipping back from the average Joe not knowing how to ship, and so close to having just been shipped is almost for sure a death sentence for that nem.
Even an experienced shipper would most likely have issues so soon.
I'm not sure what you paid for it, but I hope it was at least close to what a green normally goes for.
I have to say this is one area where I do prefer to buy from an LFS, even if you order through them, at least you get to see it before purchasing it and have options.

Yeah, I'm not sending it back. The $150 isn't worth the death of the nem. It can cuddle with my red and the snowflakes, and maybe Chase Visa will see it my way.

Brian (Drainbamage to you Dave) said that this isn't uncommon for this vendor. I was like, thanks Bri, where were you when I texted this pic to Will before buying yesterday?? Lol

I would ship it back. On HIS dime. There's no way anyone could post a picture like they did and NOT notice how different it is from the real thing. Very misleading. In reality, they probably only paid $10 for it, if that, so loosing it in shipping, to them, is better than you keeping it. Too bad.

Thanks for the info. Like others, I'll be staying away from them for sure! Maybe send him an email with a link to this thread so he can see it how everyone else is seeing it... Very deceptive.

Woogiekids; Brian (Drainbamage to you Dave) said that this isn't uncommon for this vendor. I was like said:
Will certainly knows his corals but like many LFS nems are still somewhat a mystery, and it's hard to know every animal that comes in.
But just going by the two pics that is very much a night and day difference from what you ordered and what you got.
Maybe when it gains health and brightens in color it will grow on you, especially the combo of the two together.
Take it as a lesson, and hope both remain healthy.
I have to agree w/ Todd I would not have risked that red, and I'd plan to QT anything in the future.

Now I'm just getting irritated. He also tried calling me. I don't really want to pick up...

"20k xm 400 watt MH, it is the same anemone. I can take that anemone and put it in ten different tanks and it would look different in every one of them. I just take the photo and put it on the website."

No shame, just a learning exp for you and advice for anyone following.
We all learn someway, even if by mistake, not like I never pushed anything.

Hey look! It's the Extreme Corals rainbow haddoni collection! Tell us the color you are looking for, and will photoshop up a specimen for you!

Either that, or we COULD use a color rendition card for all our photos so people knew the EXACT colors of the animal they would be receiving.... ah, who are we kidding. Honesty is bad for profits!

Well, I'm sure your post may have been brought to his attention by now.
I see a lot of stuff shot under 20k lights so their colors pop, so he is kinda right on looking different in each tank, though I would guess 20k is not the MOST popular spectrum among those in the hobby compared to those that sell online that seem to love that brighter color which will sell.
That's just one reason I've become skeptical on looking at some of these super bright nems or even corals.
Now days I look for eggcrate, tupperware, or sand to sight for white/color balance.
It could be under just 20K, but it sure seems more saturated.
I wouldn't let it really stress you, especially if both those nems come out healthy, in fact I would see that as still being lucky w/ a lesson learned.

By the way I am really sorry for you. I hope I am not causing any additional distress. It is a nice green haddoni... that sells in California for about $40-$60 retail. I don't know what the fair market price is in your neighborhood, but you should shop around, take some photos, and refuse to pay one cent more than what a green haddoni costs in your area.

She's here in CA too, and near a lot of quality LFS.
BTW I like your Warhol rendition, I at least got a chuckle out of that one!(hope she did too)

Lol BonsaiNut, that's funny. I'm not terriby distressed, just annoyed. In fact, I just did a little photo session to try and make lemonade out of this whole thing. I'll post in awhile.

And this is why I've gotten every other nem from AquaSD. Lesson learned!

Totally cute. I want the purple one.
