Bleaching, break the piece off?

I have probably one of the ugliest green m.caps imagineable that grew into whatever the heck this coral is (im awful with names.) Anyways, it bleached a nice size piece of it, but I wasn't sure to leave it or break that chunk off and hope for regrowth.

Please excuse the cell phone pic in the middle of the day with no curtains up :)

That isnt bleached...its dead

for dead spots my process goes pretty much like this as a rule:

If its on the base or bottom of a branch with healthy growing coral above it I leave it be(assuming the recession has stopped)

If its a dead tip or branch with healthy tissue below it always gets removed. Clear the way for flow and light for the living part of the coral

that said...its hard to tell what exaclty is going on in your pic. If there are just a few living branches above that dead spot I might remove that entire bracnh and remount the remainign tips to allow better flow and light to the restof the coral. It all kind of depends on just how much is left alive at the end of that branch

Thanks for the tips. I looked further into that particular branch and removed it...the majority was dead. Ill keep those rules in mind. Thanks again
