Blonde Naso w/Hippo Tang?

I'm considering the addition of a blonde naso to our 180 (6x2x2). I know that's really the min. size and I can expect one to outgrow it (same for the hippo really).

The hippo is pretty much a chicken. Would a blonde naso co-exist? (generally speaking of course, I know every fish has a mind of it's own). I know they're not really the same shape, but are kind of similar..not sure how fish see themselves. :o

I have a blonde naso that is appx 7 in or so in my 175g with a blue hippo that is appx 4 in and they do not bother each at all.

Good to hear, thanks. Really wasn't sure about their temperment.

Still pondering. Like to research a while first. The last thing I want to do it have to get a naso out of a 180 in a hurry... :)

The MINIMUM tank size for either of these fish is 8' long, so they'd be starting out in your tank already under the minimum requireents. They'd need to be rehomed from a 180 in short order.

I have a naso with two blue tangs and they get along just fine. In my 180 the naso is 4in long and the blues are 5in.

I've had a purple and naso with no problems in a 90 tank. Traded the naso later for a smaller one once he got to big for the tank, which was about 4 years.

I've had a large naso with a tiny hippo before and they loved each other. I have another one in a 210 gallon, and he beat up on a sailfin ( both of the fish were/are 3-4 inches) But, now he's the sweetest fish ever. Buy it! They have so much personality!

Where's the good old yellow tang in this list?

In optimum conditions, meaning good water quality, proper space, proper tankmates, and proper feeding...a naso tang will absolutely outgrow a 90 gallon tank in 1 year tops. IMO 4 years means something was wrong, or it was ready to be moved much sooner.
