the camera is a simple point-and-shoot canon s2 is. i don't have a digital slr...hopefully someday! i use some custom settings, but you really need to play around with your camera to figure out what works best for your camera and lighting. i do some very mild photoshop post processing... i simply crop, resize, use the "auto levels" feature, and then switch to LAB color mode and apply a slight unsharpen mask to only the black and white layer of the image. i've found that this processing makes my pictures look very much like they do in person - at least on my monitor.
