Blue Haddoni

I had a blue Haddoni scheduled for delivery today from Diver's Den today, but I awoke to the dreaded UPS email letting me know that the delivery would be delayed.

The package was 200 miles away in San Antonio TX this morning at 6:47 a.m. central. I sure don't want it sitting in a box for 2 days. Hopefully they will skip the local UPS office and delivery straight to where I work OR they send it out as soon as it hits the local UPS office. At least it isn't sitting in San Antonio on a trailer waiting to be unloaded.

The local high temperature should max at 92 today. The package weighs over 38 lbs so it is packed with at least 3 gallons of water I would guess.

All those damn iPhone 6s and 6+s being shipped must have slowed my package down.

Damn you Apple! :debi:

Come on UPS. Make my day!

This you should contact DD immediately and let them know the issue.

i have an issue with FedEx 2 weeks ago with a shipment from Petsolutions about soome live marine fishes. the box came 2 days late but i contact them as soon as the day it was suppose to arrive. the new shipment arrive before the old one if you can believe that. its dreadful to think about how those animal die slowly in the bag, its just dreadful.

My last shipment was also delayed. I called DD and they said the animal was packed to survive for 72 hours.
But I will definitely call them this morning.
Thanks for the help. :)

How did your animals do? Did any survive?

Ups did surprise me.

I guess they flew the box from San Antonio to here.
I assumed they would drive it.

I received the shipment by 10:30 am.

First Pics:

Well Packed and taped - Weight 38 lbs.

Styrofoam box - 15"w x 18"L x 12" tall

5 Large bags.

Shot of anemone in inner bag.

A little closer shot. There are zooxanthellae in the shipping water...

Well, at least we can't fault LA DD for their shipping protocol. That box is HUGE. It's great to see that companies are taking extra care when packing sensitive creatures like these anemones. At about 8 pounds a gallon, it must've been packed with at least 4 gallons of water to make that 38 pound weight. I am impressed.

Best of luck and I hope it acclimates quickly.

The salinity was dead on at 35. I had my QT tank ready at 35 with water I made last night.

Here are some first pics:

Temperature acclimation was my main concern.
The water in the bag was 76.0 so not too bad. Much better than the last time, when the water was 67.

I was a bit worried.. at first I thought its foot was its mouth gaping wide open when I was looking through the bag. But once I opened the bag... I turned it over and fixed that. ;)

Some ejected Zooxanthellae is visible in the water.

Best of luck with this guy, he looks real good for just being shipped in. I have kept alot of haddonis in the past and they are pretty hardy once established.
