Blue leg hermits - native?

Are the blue leg hermits that you provide native to your reef?...or are they just easy to obtain and convenient?

I guess you've been providing the blue legs with the package without problems, but I was wondering.

Years ago, I got a shipment of Florida LR and it contained a cream coloured hermit. While my blue leg hermits came and when by the dozens, this one cream hermit lived for a really long time. I always assumed that it was because he was native to the rock, while the others weren't.

Native to Florida...especially the Keys.....huge populations.....with some on the east coast from Jacksonville to Miami.....

This shipment of LR had one of those stubby-clawed, cream coloured hermits. (a pretty big one)

I'm trying to keep him away from the mantis... I figure once the tank is filled with hundreds of blue legs, the mantis will tend to take the easier meals.
