Blue Ring Octopus

I know it's dangerous, but I just love the blue ring octopus. I would like to build an aquarium focused on the blue ring octopus, but I think I should know more about the dangers. I know that they are great at escaping, but disregarding that what else should I worry about? I know their venom is created by collecting bacteria in the ocean so would it be less potent in captivity?

That picture you posted is pretty, but they only show the blue rings when they're pissed or looking for a mate. They only live a short time (2 to 3 years is what I read). In my opinion, the risk would not outweigh the novelty of owning one. I would not bet my life that it becomes less venomous being kept in captivity. Post up here if you carry through with your plan!

I completely agree.

To be honest, I don't even know why I want to keep such dangerous and exotic animals, and I probably couldn't even get my hands on one. I guess I'll post here if I figure something out.

I don’t know any truth to this, but in addition to the above, my LFS, which has gotten them in before, has said the worse part about their bite is you don’t feel it, so you won’t know that it actually happened.
