Hi
I can't seem to be able to post this in the sps wanted. I'm looking for a blue tort frg in S.F. bay area. I am taking care of a tank for a friend serving in Iraq and it broke off and I missed it, so long story short is I would like to replace it before she returns.
Thanks

There are several different blue tort lineages out there, ranging from $20 to $100 per 1" frag. Could you be a little more specific as to what you are looking to replace ?

It was a very deep blue in 14k MH. Do you know where I can find some pictures ?

deep blue under 14K sounds like either becker or cali tort. Our cali tort frag looks more light purple w/ hints of green under 10K, but I have seen it under 20K and it is a deep blue/purple. I have heard that the becker tort is similarly colored. Depending on the 14K you are using (and the ballast) it could have the same actual kelvin as a 20K. The only real way to know is to find a cali tort and see how it colors up in a week or so in your tank.

I know New Alameda Aquatics has a deep blue tort, I'm unure if they have any for sale as it was part of their neat show colony that apparently got a few frags knocked off during cleaning, to which I picked one up. It's still blue, but does have some green closer to the body (i'd guess from lack of light getting there) but still looks nice, unfortunately like other torts it is a slow grower and not even ready to frag off pieces.

Ultimate Aquarium has a decent sized frag, looks like cali to me (it came out of a customers tank so I'm not sure of the lineage, maybe call Joe). It is VERY blue without a hint of green.
