Blueberry Shortcake Acropora - Dying?

I thought api kits only read single digit numbers like 5 6 7 or 8 and the colors make it hard to tell a value of say 7.3. And if its only reading single numbers if its off slightly then your reading is even worse. That's why I never used them. Sure you can use them to tell if your value is stable though. Or maybe they have changed the kit since I had one many years ago.

I use it enough that I know where I'm at just from the color once it starts to turn. Also, if you want .5 increments, just use a 10 ml sample and a larger vial, exactly like the Elos kit... I can't think of a good reason why anyone would need better resolution than that.

Some like it that use carbon sources to make sure its not to low and not to high. Some find its a fine line between the two. If there is error in the kit and its not real accurate it could be troublesome for thoes people. Bit for average testing obviously it works OK
I still like saliferts kits the most.

The first part is nonsense. I haven't owned anything other than API for KH for years, and even when I did I still used the API kit instead of my Salifert. It's easy and it's accurate and perfectly fine for our purposes. PO4, sure, API is worthless, but so is every other kit on the market, Hanna meters about the only worthwhile thing we can use to test. I also only use API for calcium, and recommend it to others...

(EDIT : for jumping to conclusions)
I'll start this off by saying I definitely should have put the "in my opinion" in front of my comment as I usually do..

Your response is you can tell from the color change what your levels actually are. Most Reefers asking questions here are not seasoned Reefers like yourself and will just follow the directions and can get in trouble fairly quickly without a proper way to distinguish proper levels. Having an alk swing that leads to a 2dkh drop/raise before it's rectified can cause some issues.

I get that you disagree but I'll stick to my opinion that API should not be the sole source of testing for certain things, and I mean no offense to anyone because of that. I personally dislike API and should have stated that and that it was MY opinion and i don't think I'm in the minority here . I for one would rather have the most accuracy I can get, but even more important is the repeatedly accurate results.

Op I ( again my opinion) would definitely use the Hanna and red sea kits you already have.. Salifert and Hanna are good for alk also. For a p04 kit other than Hanna Ulr is the Elos professional line, Its pretty darn good but pricey. But it does come with a lot of test's per kit.
