Ive been trying to find photos of another Blueface Angel that looks like mine. Bluefaces usually have a solid yellow tail except for when they are juveniles; but mine is well past the juvi color phase. Anyone else seen one with a blue tail like this? Ild love to see the shots if you have. Thanks!

(sorry about the pictures; he is Very tough to photograph)

Awsome fish, If it is rare I bet there are some people that would pay high $ for one like that.

I guess your pretty lucky

Nice fish. I would like to have a blueface. How aggressive is he? Would a blueface, a regal and an imperator angel get along?

Blueface as a rule are Very shy, but can be fiercely territorial over their own set of hiding spots. Mine is about 6" w/tail and is in a 240 with a C. rubripinnis fairy wrasse, hybrid indigo basslet, ocellaris clown and kole tang. He gets along fine with everyone except the tang. They only fight with eachother when the kole gets too close to the angel's 2 caves. I think in a large enough tank (180 or larger) you could keep a Blueface and a Regal together, but Ild be a little more cautious about mixing a Blueface with an Emperor.

I've never seen an adult blueface with a tail like that, it will be interesting to see if he keeps that coloration as he gets bigger.

Hormigaquatica- your description of the blueface's personality fits mine to a tee. He is very shy but is becomming bolder but he doesn't take any guff from my flagfin or my tangs and will chase them from his favorite caves without hesitation. Very sweet looking fish!

never seen a blue face with a tail like that.i have two in my tank one about 7in and the other 4in,they live together with a 9in blue ring angel.both their tails are just normal colour yours looks brilliant.derek

That's a nice specimen. Keep us posted on how the tail comes along. I'll check with my transitioning Juvie and see how it looks, but I don't think it is like yours.

Mine is also fairly shy and does not bother a single sole :p in my tank. If anything, my Majestic will scare the BFA a little when he goes in front of him.

they are kept in a 400gall plus tank and have been together for over 18 months without any problems.the smaller one was added just before it changed into full adult colour but has now completely changed.derek

I was looking at some angelfish pics and noticed the tail of some six banded angelfish, Pomacanthus sexstriatus, is somewhat similar to the tail coloration of this blueface. The two species are known to hybridize and are very closely related, I wonder if you have a hybrid there.
