Has anyone had one of these before? i got one last week and im still working on training it to eat frozen mysis. Its really pretty but unfortunately is a sand dweller and hangs out on the bottom all day.

we've been keeping one for close to two months now. our fish spends most of its time in the water column begging if it sees us. IME, it took better to being stick fed than feeding from the water column, altho, once it got the idea, it accepts food from the water column as well. we feed ours using an "invisible" feeding stick, which is a length of 50 lb test monofilament attached to the "business end" of a commercial acrylic feeding stick:

you might also try dimming the tank at first...

being a temperate water fish, we keep ours at 66*-67*F. unfortunately, these fish have a dismal survival rate in captivity. there have been some specimens being collected in Cebu, PI that are found in slightly warmer temps (low 70's) which MAY fare a bit better (our specimen is such a fish). one thing to look out for is bacterial infection, which can progress very rapidly.

can you please give a rundown on temp, tank size, tankmates, etc., and post any pix you may have?

that being said, they are indeed gorgeous:

that's a good question, but to be honest, i think the SH would stress the lion out by attempting to hitch to it, and the SH could possibly get zapped accidentally (we've kept SH for years). otherwise, in terms of aggression, there would be none whatsoever.

we're being VERY careful with our bluefin lion, as we hope to "beat the odds" and keep it around a good, long time. to that end, it's in a species setup where we can closely monitor everything.
