BlueJaw Trigger with brown cotton ball growth in mouth

I've had my trigger for about two months now, good eater, very social, no problems.

Last week I noticed a small brown cottonball looking growth in his mouth, it appears to have gotten bigger. It looks like it's in between his tongue and bottom lip.

I'd post a pic, but my point-n-shoot doesn't have a chance of getting a 2mm growth on a fast moving fish.

Any ideas? Parasite? fungus?

Thanks for any help, he's a very nice fish.
Felix.

I doesn't look like it, but it does affect him, I can tell he's irritated by them. I pulled him out of the overflow yesterday, I'm wishing I would have tried to tweeze it out at the time.

We Beat It!

I fed him very hard foods, exclusively for a week. The growth appeared to be on his teeth/lip area, so I reasoned it would become damaged if he is crunching on food constantly. The hard pellets did it, a week in there are NO signs of this growth and he is peppy as ever.
