Dear everyone,

my name is Bonno Mulder and i am writing this journal in my name and my father's Rob Mulder. I am 23 years old and owned a sps trigon 190 for 3 years. Like most of us i started with keeping soft corals and anemones. Quite soon I started keeping my first stonecorlas and felt in love with keeping SPS, since then the love for saltwatter became even bigger. The same goes up for my father tath swapped his freshwater tank for a saltwater tank after he experienced the beauty of reeftanks. My brother is currently also keeping a sps reeftank so the full family is infected. This makes buying corals and swapping frags among each other even more fun. My father and i used to have a own tank for ourselfs but recently we decided to combine our skills in one big system. We have learned alot by reading threads on reef central and enjoyed reading experiences form other tank owners. Tath is why we decided to start our very own journal now.

When people got questions or like to leave reactions dont hesistate to do it. I invite you all to reply on this thread. I will post as many developments as possible at this thread.

Kind regards Bonno Mulder

Our new tank has the following dimensions, 63x27.6x27,6 inches.
The sump is 47.2x19,7x15,7 inches. Globally this results in a system
of 250 gallons.

We chose for a 10x80 watt lighting unit with ati bulbs. The bulbs are a composition of the following colours: purple plus, super blue, aquablie special and blue plus. We have very good experience with t5 lighting. The growth and colours of the sps were pretty good in our experience. The main pump taths connects the sump with the tank is a red devil 8200l/h. We use a chiller from ferplast and a 300watt heater from jäger to keep the temperature on the right level. We do use a dastaco type 3 extreme calcium reactor to keep the calcium, magnesium and alkalinity at the desired lvl. To reduces phosphates we are using 2 D en D reactors fileld with rowaphos. Our skimmer is a deltec tc2060 to reduce nitrates. The waterflow is about 40.000 liter an hour excluding the red devil and exists out jebao and hydor streamers. We will change 10 percent of the water volume every other week to keep the system running.

Below i attached some pictures of the tank.

Recently my brother (Nino Mulder) and I builded the reefscape. We chose to paint the background black for maximum depth and contrast. We tried to make a
open aquascape with a lot of place to swim for the fishes. We did also want to create a lot of space to put on corals. The scape makes no contact with the glass to keep maintaining and cleaning the glass easy. We will keep the floor relativly empty to create a nice and restfull view. The coral sandbed will be places next thursday. I will add some pictures when this is done.

I want to thank my brother for helping me building the scape in this way!
