"Bonsai Reef" (SPS style)

Looks freakin sweet Todd. Nice work! It's refreshing to see a thriving reef in CT and on RC, seems like every time I'm on here lurking it's all breakdown or fresh start up threads.

The tank looks great! What are the NO3 and P04 running and any change in them after pulling the skimmer? How quiet is the new overflow, looks like a single line? I can't figure out why it wouldn't make noise.

Hey Karl,
Thanks, good to see you're still lurking. I'm taking it as a sign you haven't lost the reefing bug completely. So when are you getting back in? You're tank was still one of the best led only tanks I've seen. Hope all is well:wave:

Thanks, I check nitrate weekly and they've been hovering around 3ppm or so (which is about what they were when I was nitrate dosing), but I would like to see them as high as five. PO4 I check bi-weekly and it's been staying around .02-.04ppm. You're right, the overflow is a single line. It doesn't make noise because I'm not trying to push 1,000gph down into it. I've never counted my return as part of my overall flow. I probably get 1x turnover per hour. Just enough for my heater and carbon reactor to do the job down in the sump and pump it back up into the display. BTW, how's you're tank coming along? I haven't seen you post lately, unless I missed it somehow.

My QT was doing great, I moved a red dragon over to the 150 and it did ok so I took down the QT. After a couple months I had some problems and lost half of my sps. I'm going to add a overflow to my 45 gallon and plumb it into my system and valve it off after FFM to run it as a isolated QT again.
It's nice to see your system doing well, it's good motivation for me.

Sounds good, your past setup was sweet. You know what you're doing, I'm sure you'll get it all figured out.
