"Bonsai Reef" (SPS style)

Looking great! I'm on the fence over Apple Iphone or Samsung Galaxy...Iphones are pretty useless for our tank photos as they have NO white balance control capability...

Nice...congratulations!

Thanks, Yano

Thanks Sahin, I can't really speak about the I-phones since I've never owned one. I've only owned Galaxies and the Note 4 captures my tank as true to color better than any other previous models I've had.

Just wanted to give a quick little update on a chalice I saved from the chopping block. It was scheduled to be chopped up and sold as many frags, but it was just too nice and I couldn't let it happen. Not sure what kind it is, but it's nice nonetheless, it has roughly 100eyes/mouths:

And a full tank shot with it on the bottom left:

Tank looks sweet man. That Chalice looks pretty cool; sometimes its just not worth cutting up a decent sized colony...there is just something special about a full grown colony of any coral (unless its really ugly).

Thanks Sahin, and totally agree with the above statement.

Wow! Really nice tank!
I'm late to this one. Just read the whole thread. Just plain stupid how many times you've been set back by tank issues.. Went through a tank leak, myself... No fun!
Still running the 52s?
Looks like coral colors are a bit darker.. Have you gotten your nitrates off the floor?

Thanks Reefmutt,
For sure I have had my ups and downs. Mostly of my own doing from switching my lighting so much, among the other issues. Low nutrients have still been a problem for me, but getting better. I cut back on my water changes and have been adding a couple of the zeo products to supplement the SPS. Seems to be doing the trick, but can always be better. My current lighting is the Reefbrite Halide/led hybrid. This fixture works better for "me" because I can't constantly tinker with it. Those damn leds are just so controllable I can't resist messing with them all the time at the expense of my coral. My most recent problem was alkalinity being too high resulting in burnt tips due to my low nutrients. Everything has since recovered. I find if I keep alk under 8.5 things are happy.

Looking great!
I hear you about the mh. No guess work there. They go on and the go off and they do the job!

Beautifully arranged corals and scape.

Thank you

Exactly!! perfect for me. Just wish I hadn't literally spent a few thousand dollars on all of the led units I've tried. I kept going back saying I won't tinker anymore and just couldn't do it. Could of had my dream tank with an external overflow. Someday

I've been updating in my local forum, but not here so much, so I thought I would post a few FTS, just to keep this thread updated. Over the last few months things have been pretty much moving along steadily with no severe issues. I had a small battle with some vermetid snails and moved a couple corals here and there, but otherwise things have been progressing slow and steady. Here are a few pics of how the tank looks currently.
Thanks for looking:
