Bought new led light fixture from China.

Dear all,

This is my first reply in this great community, so hello to everyone from Spain.
Dear Gillguy, thanks for this post. I am thinking to buy one S300 (300W) or three S120(total of 360W) for my 51 x 24 x 24 (124 gallons) and this information is very useful, but still without a decision between both options...
Thanks again !!

You will save money if you go with one s300 and it will take up less space.

So far only one causality. A small acro frag bleached. Really my fault. Should have lowered it. Otherwise the tank has never been better. Color and growth have been great. The unit is working with no problems. I'll post pics this weekend.

Ok guys, here is a link to youtube of my tank and the new Ledzeal light and controller. All corals are doing great. Take a look. Sorry for the quality all I have is my cell phone.

I found another company selling the same units under the name of Illusion instead of Malibu. The company's name is Eonstar and their price is $799 for the S300. That's almost $400 more than what I paid getting it direct from Ledzeal in China. Goes to show how much of a markup the middleman charges. Here is the Amazon link.

Has anyone gotten a price for a shorter one of these, maybe a 18 or so. Looking for one for a biocube 29.

Wish they had price on the website.

I posted on the on 10/26, and emailed for info shortly thereafter. I just received a first reply from LEDZEAL last night, 14 days later.

Too bad I already chose another fixture. They look like pretty good fixtures, and seem to have pretty good results as per the posts on here.

A bit ridiculous to take that long to respond if you ask me, but that's just my 2 cents.

I have a good amount of literature to include prices that I will upload to dropbox in a bit and link here if anyone is interested. Much faster than emailing the company :fun2:

Gunguy, I guess it does happen but in my experience when dealing with Kevin on the Ledzeal website I always got responses within a day. That's who I recommend if you are interested in info or buying.

Kevin has been great to work with, I have exchanged maybe 10 emails with him giving me all the different information I asked for. As for me I will be ordering two to three lights in the black w/ controller. I am glad Gillguy started this thread and shared:) as he stated ordering 2 to 3 really cuts the shipping down. If you look at the drivers, leds, and other equipment they are using it is really nice stuff:)

You are welcomed. This forum has been very helpful for me in many ways. My intention with this thread was to inform people interested in an LED unit that this was available. I know many are worried about buying something directly from china but hopefully with the info I have shared some people like you will benefit from it. Enjoy the light and the savings too!

Has anyone purchased for a 48" 90 gallon tank. I am wondering if I should get the S300 model at 48" or go with the next size down.

If it's going inside a canopy you want to get the s200 36 inch because the exhaust for the fans are on the sides. Unless you cut out a an area on the side of the canopy for the air to exit. At 12 inches above the water you'll still get full coverage with the 36 inch unit. I have s300 48 inch on my 5 foot tank.

question

question

Dear Gillguy, many thanks for your thread and hello from Russia. It helped a lot in my search for solution for my tank which is kind of 29 biocube. I am pretty sure now i will take Malibu s120 with controller. I will very much appreciate if you could help me with few questions based on your experience. I have spa/lps/softy mix about same as you do:
1) Controller: wireless or cord? if i will control only one tank does wireless provide any special benefits? no control from iphone?
2) Please i will appreciate this very much, recommend layout and color mix based on your experience. I also would like to get really more blue look, still good for corals.
3) i am thinking to order their extractable bracket system, which seems better for biocube, do you think its good idea?
4) Did you try those weather features? i dont think i am gonna use it a lot, but its fun to show for friends.

Many thanks in advance

Zhav19, hope everything is well in Russia.

1) Unless you plan on playing around constantly with the controller from your chair you should get the wired one and no there is no special benefit for one unit. Can't be controlled with Iphone that I know of.
2) The standard layout has 12 white leds in each cluster. I would use only 6 white total in a cluster. Make the rest all blue. You should mix it up using 450 nm and 460 nm. Keep 2 UV and the red and green are not necessary for coral growth but they do add coral.
3) Brackets are good idea but I don't know if you'll be able to raise it 12 inches above the water. If bracket is less than 12 inches you should use 90 degree optics.
4) Yes the weather features are neat but I don't use them. I have the light programmed for a sunrise and sunset and it works great.

29gal LEDZeal

Hi Gillguy

i appreciate this post. i'm looking at a 24", my 29 gal is 30 long so i think the 24" will work, same led pattern setup as yours. i plan to use the adjustable brackets which they say will pu the fixture about 4" above the tank, what do you suggest for the degree spread of the LED for this kind of setup. Thanks

S150-定制配比-2013-11-23.jpgi think this is the same led setup you have

Any suggestions on which of these lights to get for a 48x48 square tank? The 48" unit will probably have a lot of light spillage as it would run all the way to the tank's edges. But I wonder if the 36" units would be enough. Also, how many to get to cover the whole square - two or three?
