Branching Dendro

I am about to buy an Australian branching dendro from a local seller. Does anyone else have any experience with this type of dendro? Pictures are always fun too. I will post mine as soon as i get it acclimated and picture worthy.

Here is a top down picture of the frag before i moved it to my tank:

I'm not sure but that looks like the species of dendro that I've been trying to find. Here's a picture.

Why do they have to be so expensive? They're $40 a head at my lfs. I really want one but can't justify the price. They're soo pretty though, I'll probably give in one day.

Trichome, about your update pictures in the second post... is the australian one from your first photo there?

Or are they different dendros? :D

They're 45 dollars a head here in Boston. Its a 5-8 polpy colony... thats 200+! So i cheaped out and got some Tubastrea :(

I'm not sure if we're all posting pics of the same species or not. I'll post mine as soon as I get my camera working again. Mine has three large heads and two baby heads. One of the heads is really large, like 2"+ across when fully open. They are absolute pigs! It seems I can keep on feeding and feeding them and they just come back for more. I have to stop myself from doing so because I'm afraid these guys won't stop feeding even when they're well over-stuffed.

Yes my first photo and the branching one in the later photos are the same. :) The first photo was taken from the person i bought it from and was under a 20k 400w bulb.

I guess i should have just posted pictures of just the branching one. In my update pictures the branching one is the lower of them and the top down. The one on top is a different type. I am not sure of the scientific names for them, but i believe they are both from Australian.

My dendro hasnt opened up and sense i put it in my tank what should i do is it okay?
How long have you had it in the tank? Sometimes they require several days of settling in before they'll open up...

Ensure that there is nothing picking at the polyps (fish/inverts) and there is no detrius building up on the colony.

If you have had them for a while, they still refuse to open, and there is nothing picking at it, use the "tupperware method" described here: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1719839
