breeding small feeder fish

i have a longnose hawkfish that seesm to like live food more then frozen.
i was thinking of breeding guppies to feed him sometimes.
What is the smallest tank i can use for 2 females and a male. Should i get a small birth tank for the mother and to hold the babies? or should i seperate the main tank into 2 parts.
What is the best small fish to breed as a feeder?

Easiest way for guppies, is to either throw an outside tub in your backyard, dump in some guppies... and let them go all summer.... taking as you need them... or you can throw up a 10 gallon tank cheap, throw some guppies in, and harvest as needed. If you use plants (live or plastic) in the tank, your babies will hide out.
