Brian's 270 Starphire

Congrats Brian, Thats a huge step. I'm looking forward to seeing your tank filled with nippers :p

It's going to be awhile. All my drain holes are drilled 1/16-1/8 too small. I have tried three different brands of bulkhead and none of the fix. I measure the holes and they are not the measurement that I gave them. I will be talk with Miracles on Monday. :mad2:

Man, what a drag :(

I wonder what their solution will be. You can't file glass out, can you? Not that you should have to

Im sure you'll get it worked out....

Congrats getting the tank up Brian!

After seeing all the problems you have had with Miracle I have decided I definitely won't be going with them for my upgrade.

Great job in getting it safely on the stand....!! Now where's all the pictures of men struggling to bring it on top lol

I'm not touching it! They are only 4 hrs away... so they can come down and fix it. I'll find out Monday for sure.

I have had some problem... but the have made it right every time. I'm sure this time will not be any different. The tank looks great oterwise. Seams are great, everything is nice and clean.

I didn't get any pics of the move. Everyone was pretty busy and it went pretty fast. I tihink it took less then 20 mins to get it on the stand.

The tank is gorgeous. I am sure they will get the issues resolved. After hearing in detail all the issues with it, I would not have any concern getting a tank from them....and when we eventually upgrade they will be doing it.

Move was a breeze, super easy, told you it would not be bad Brian :)

sucks about the holes being the wrong size. Interested in your overall experience as I am looking for a tank very similar to what you had built.

Very nice tank Brian! The best part is watching it all grow in.
You went with the elite's did you not? I run them and phoenix bulbs and i am switching to 20k ushio's next bulb replacement.
They thow off some serous light.

I'm sure they will fix the problem. As for the tank I love the dimentions so far. If it was an option for me I wou;ld hav gone a little taller.

Thanks Alex, I'm runnig LAIII. In fact two of them are the ones I bought from you a few yrs ago. I'm just putting them to use now.

Brian, just throw some sch 40's on there if they will fit and call it a day. We do not have enough pressure going through the tanks for it to matter. Most standard bulkheads are drilled for 40. Either way, it's a small issue and you will get it resolved shortly.

Well congratulations on getting the tank inside without an incident but man that sucks to have the holes drilled in correctly. I'm sure that Miracles will make it right but I'm sure that having to wait is not fun but it's a journey, so enjoy the ride.

I have tried sch 40's and they will not go in either. They told me to sand the treads on the bulkhead. I'm doing it now...so we'll see.

I was able to get the plumbing 90% done. I still have to plumb the manifold and raise the stand pipes for the drain... there little to noisy. I only had one small leak!

It's filled! I still working on the rock work, but for the most part I have most of the rock I want in there.

Lots of wiring to do and equipment to hook up. I'll get alot of that do when my new controller get here. My wife tells me I need to have this done before my youngest daughters 1st b-day in 2 weeks.
