I bet that feels good! :D

Let the cycle begin!

It does... I'll feel better once it is cycled. I hope some bactria will help.

Nice Brian, I really like the three separate islands you've got there!

Thanks Dave. I'm not in love with it yet. It doesn't seem like I have any more space for corals than I did in my 90 gal. I'll be moving thing aound in the next few day once the water starts to clean up.

Right on! You've got water. How did you solve the hole size / bulkhead issue?

Dan I sanded the threads on the bulkhead. Hayward bulkhand have deeper thread so it wasn't too much of an issues beside the 1.5 hrs of sanding.

I used biospira to kick start the cycle. I had no cycle's to go thru.
Diatoms were knocked out quickly. Plus pods seemed to populate much quicker than any other tank setup i have had.
LMK I have some small conchs that reproduce in tank stay small and clean up quite well. I can send a half dozen to ya when youre ready.

I might have to take you up on the snails once thing settle down. I plan on using prodibio as my bacteria source. I just got it today... which brings me to the question for the prodibio users. Should I start now or wait until the fish are added?

Nice looking tank, keep up the good work! What's your lighting choice?

Thanks. I plan on using 3 400w 20k Radiums. Right on I just have some old 12k Reeflux's on until I add the corals.

nicee

Thanks physicz!

I would wait until a week or so before adding fish. I am assuming you are starting 100% clean, new rock, sand etc.

Also I had good results using Brightwells MB7. What are you going to use for carbon source?

I plan on waiting a few weeks before adding fish. They are still in QT. I was more or less asking if I should wait to start prodibio until i add fish or start it now.

From what I inderstand about pordiboi is that bioptim is the carbon source. I have read alot of good thing about MB7, but I didn't want to dose everyday, so I want with prodibio. I might try MB7 down the road if these works out well. Never been much of a doser.

Very nice tank, i love the dimensions! What kind of lighting do you plan on using on this tank?

Thanks. I'll be running 20k radiums once the corals are added.

Deja, When ever youre ready LMK youre welcome. They populate really well and hearty. They are real workhorses.
Maybe @ the Monster swap i can get them to ya or someone from that side can grab em for ya.

Brian, start now as this will help your cycle. Here is a link to a thread about the initial dosing that has a start-up schedule. See the post by Project Reef, Ali is the owner of Amazing Aquariums and Reefs who I consider an expert. (He's a long time hobbiest prior to starting his own shop.) You may want to ping him on starting with a new tank, let him know that I sent you over if you do. I've been using Bio Digest and Reef Booster for a while now. Used to use Bioptim but switched to vodka.

Brian I used to use ZEOvit, tried Fauna for a while, and have resorted back to Prodibio. Every other week bacteria dosing and once a week carbon source - works like a champ and easy as pie

No derailing here, feel free to talk about what ever.:D

The snail would be great. I'll have to see what the date is on the Monster swap.

Thanks Dan, Ali's thread is the one that I have been following for my dosing schedule.

Have you notice any difference between Bioptim and vodka?
