Brian's 270 Starphire

Glad to hear you got the seal replaced. How did the shaft clean up?

I will be ordering my ATB pumps soon if you want to jump in on it :)

You other 'possible' addition is doing very well, eating like a champ and settling in very well.

Very nice setup!

Thanks!

The shaft cleaned up good. Forgot to get pics.

Funds aren't there for an ATB now, but down the road they might.

No Bandit now. My tank runs at 78 with out a chiller and not sure if I want to run one.

What kind of pump was that you repaired, Brian? You mentioned a Reeflo Blackfin, but I'm not familiar with that one...

I have just been studying your excellent photo description of the process... did you get the seals/bearing from Sequence? Covered under warranty? I have a pair of Hammerheads, and get nervous when I read about all the issues folks are having with large pumps. Is is a good idea to keep a set of seals / bearings on hand?

It is a Sequence Blackfin. Everything was covered under warranty by Sequence. I received the seal 3 days after calling. Their customer service is great.... just that the Blackfin is a new pump with alot of issues. I wouldn't worry about having seals on hand. Mine leak for a month before I found think to fix it.

Sorry to see your pump troubles Brian, that stinks. Glad Sequence worked it out, and fast for you. I've only had great CS from them before too.
So I hear the you might have got your AGE tank back and a nice nipper to go in it ;).

The tank never actually left my room as it was never picked up... just had to pay for it again!
It is more then 'might' be back....last I heard it was about 1/2 filled with water!
When I went home for lunch to feed the nipper it was only 3-4" below the overflow teeth... better go pick up the sump! :eek2:
I still think he should keep the shoebox and sell me the new nipper :lmao:
Nice try ;)
Thats great new Austin ;)
Thanks Mark! I'm excited to say the least...

as I am looking around at new houses right now and planning my build, ATB flowstar pumps are going to be a necessity, noise and constant breakdowns are just not an option for me, save those funds up, I think it will be worth it to have one waiting next time the sequence goes down.

I agree, as soon as I add a few more fish that are on my list an ATB flowstar will be next on the list. The noise issues have been fixed. While there are quieter pump it not that noisy.

Great fish selection Brian. Do you get any PE with the nippers in? Let's see picts of the newest coral nipper.

Dan, none of my nipper actual nip.... at least yet. It's really a crap shot when it comes to angels. I have had only one that has ever nipped at SPS and I have kept a few over the years.
