Brian's 270 Starphire

Were you ever able to pick up a DSLR? I think you had to wait until the wife was done purchasing furniture for the new house. I think I'm going to be in the same boat soon as well as I move into a new, and my first, house in North Carolina.

By the way, this thread did inspire to pull the trigger and purchase a 220 gallon 72"x30"x24" starphire tank from Miracles! I am likely going to build a canopy for it (I like wrasses) but do you think the quality and cleanliness of the Miracles eurobrace would lend itself to an open top tank? I ask because I will be lighting the tank with LEDs and a high mount option would probably be a lot easier.

Looking good Brian. What's your fish roster look like nowadays?

It hasn't changed for awhile.

Chaetodontoplus septentrionalis
Centropyge multicolor
2 Hemitaurichthys polylepis
Siganus unimaculatus
Ctenochaetus tominiensis
5 Cirrhilabrus jordani
Pseudocheilinus ocellatus

Still haven't picked up the new camera. I have picked it out and hope I'll have it by the end of the summer.

The new tank should be awesome! The EB is very clean and you could easily do an open top look if you wanted.

Nice cap Brian, I love this one. Can't have them in my tank because I don't have a beast like yours so I really enjoy yours.

Thanks Dan, no sure if it will stay or not. Might need more room for sticks after this and next weekend :).

Say Brian,

I'm curious to know how your bubble algae battle is going? Are any of the fish you added for it helping any? Do you know how orange spotted rabbit fish or some of the others do? I think it's pretty much trial and error but just wanted to hear from you.

Thanks

It's going OK. I remove most of it manually, at least what I could get at. I have yet to see the foxface eat any of it, but the Emerald crabs are. I have seen them on my acro :sad1:.

I plan on adding a Naso soon and i know they will eat it for sure. In the past i have had good luck with orange spotted rabbit, it just hard to find heathly ones.

Thanks Brian... Yeah, I won't have an emerald crab in my tank again. I caught one making breakfast lunch and dinner out of my acros in my old tank. I had multiple offenders and had to remove all of them. They were banished to the sump after that.

I had a Blonde Naso that was great at eating bubble algae but once he got a taste for the food I was feeding he never bothered with it anymore. I've got Aquatouch local to me and they've got two healthy Orange Spot's right now. I plan on snagging one of them soon!~

Good luck Dave LMK how the rabbit works out. I do agree with on the Emeralds, but right now they seem to be doing the job and will stay until the bubble algae is gone.
