Brian's 270 Starphire

I have no ideas what you guys and gals are talking about. Send your PM's to Dan, He is the one with gorgeous grown out tank :p

He's not sharing with any of us but I am pretty sure those didn't come from him.

Nice sticks, Brian. I want to make more comments but I am not about to make the same mistake that Dan made with Sara reading everything :hammer:
You can't keep track of my mistakes...too many of them.

Nice SPS Brian, I'll be interested to see if you can keep the colors on the A. abrotanoides. (See no dual interpretations here :wildone:)

All in photos...took my tank down a while back...now I have neon tetras  Plus Mark's "shallow tank" is nicer than mine ever was...as most people's ever will be.

We'll see if it hold it color. I had one in my old 90 that didn't... may be my luck has changed.

Mine might be next :).

Isn't homecoming for the fishes soon or did I miss it? I'll be that they're gonna be happy to have a big tank to swim in again and you're looking forward to seeing them in the display.

Yep Dan, the last day is this Thurday. All I can say is that I'm happy that it will be all over with :D.

Just curious Brian, what would you do if when you place the fish back in the tank and you see ich again?

Mark, This is a conversation that i have had with a few people. My answer so far, has been to sell everything and get out. The plan when I set this tank up was to have a bunch of higher end/ rare fish. This has been a dream that i have had for a long time. Us moving to a new house allowed this to happen.

With that said, I don't feel that I could be happy knowing if i going though all the work to get a fish properly conditioned for the tank, that it will only to end up getting ich. There has also been a few reset events that have soured the hobby a bit for me. So, honestly i don't know what I would do, but I leaning towards the door way out.

Wow Brian, Sorry to hear about the tough times. You know my email/phone is always open ;)

I hear you about "the want" to have rare fish and coral and I can offer you the other side of the argument now that I have taken a step back if you really want it; but I highly doubt people want to hear my rambling or soapbox.

As for Ich, I've always lived with it as it comes and goes from time to time in my tank. It does not affect my outlook on my tank. After I changed everything up, I've had an outbreak of the dreeded white spots. All the fish are still eating vigorously and I have began to feed pellets and flake,; as well as the token meaty foods. The problem is getting better. I stil have not introduced my new hybrid as we all know the acanthurus' are a pain in the neck.

No matter what, please take your time in your decision and feel free to run things my way. I know I appreciated all the people that I have leaned on for advice.

As for the ich, I can live with an outbreak here and there. It would be a big improvement from what was going on before.

Honestly there just so much more than the ich that has me thinking is it all worth it. At this point I'm just not sure it is.

Man....I must say between you and Mark you guys are really depressing me. :hmm3: You both have been huge contributors to this hobby and it would be really hard to see either of you go. I know I have experienced the ups and downs of the hobby. There have been several times I considered selling the tank and moving on. For all of those lows though there have been so many more highs. I hope you will think long and hard before getting out Brian.

Thanks Dave! Trust me I have given it alot of thought and will give it more before I decide. Alot will depend on what happens in the next couple of months.

+1 on this...Both of you guys as well as a few others helped me push though the down times too. Brian your tank is really starting to grow out and the pictures you've been posting have been great. Understand that you gotta do what you have to do and I know that you're not near a decision point yet but I for one am hoping that you will continue on. :hmm2:
