Brightwell Aquatics NeoZeo method.

Hey everyone, i have seen the great success that everyone has been having with the Brightwell products and i have decided to give it a try. This way be a dumb question, however i would rather be safe than sorry! Im going to run NeoZeo, and dose AA's, microbacter7, and reef biofuel. Is it safe to also be dosing a 2 part solution? Will there be any affects doing so? Also if there is anything else (product wise) i am missing that you suggest please let me know!
Thanks,
Brett

Yes its safe. And mandatory

Hello, I just set up a new 160 gallon tank (72" x 36" x 15"). I am transferring from a 90 gallon. Right now only live sand and about 90 lb of live rock are in the tank with some crabs, snails, etc. Fish are currently in a 20g while the new tank is established. My question is this, I plan to use this tank not as a reef but as FOWLR. Specifically, I will have a yellow stingray and a coral cat shark, along with some other tangs, etc. I have a 40 gallon breeder sump with two protein skimmers (ASM G2 and GX1). I do not want to add more live rock as I want to leave a large swimming area. No plans to add more than a few easy to keep corals (have two 250 MH and 4 VHOs).

My question is, would it be possible to run neozeo on this type of system? Basically to keep ultra low phosphates and nitrates and for water clarity, but not necessarily for coral coloration and growth? Any input would be great. Thanks!

All you would need to do is run the Zeo media, MB7, and Biofuel and you should be golden.

That's all I was running for about a month while I was on vacation, and when I tested the other day my nutrient levels were still undetectable.

Hi all~

Have you ever seen this slime?

It is not definately Hair algae and thicker than cyano.

I heard In bacterial system, When cyano comes, I should dose MB7 much more.

Do you think it need more MB7 or carbon source?

This is 100gal SPS tank and I use zeovit media+MB7+Vodka
MB7 is 10drops every other day and vodka 2ml daily.

It looks like the bio film. My guess would be to back off a little on the MB7.

Thanks

You mean I should cut back MB7 dosing...right?

:)

That has nothing to do with the MB7. You need to siphon that stuff off of the GSP.

I have been battling that stuff for over a year now. It kills the GSP and lives off of the nutrients released. I also had it in other areas, but it seems to thrive on GSP.

It siphons off really easy...unless it gets in the sand bed, then you are sol.

I have only seen it in very clean systems. I'm still experimenting on how to get rid of it. I have only recently started dosing MB7.

Thanks acrylic_300 and CHUBAKAH

I can see this in my GSP,beside water outlet and some spot of overflow. The common place where the water flow is less than others.

Yes, I tried to remove this several times and it is easy to get rid of it. But I am not sure it is from bacteria(MB7) or not.

:)

Any other opinions?

I can assure you it's not the MB7. I had it well over a year before I started dosing bacteria.

Remove it from your GSP asap. My mistake was blowing it off with a turkey baster and getting it all over my tank.

If I knew then what I know now...I would have siphoned it out.

It tends to come back in the same spots. Just make it part routine to remove it.

My whole back wall is GSP here is a picture of it dying because of this stuff.

After a year of siphoning the GSP is winning the battle.

That looks to be dinoflagellates. I had what looked to be similar but it covered my rockwork. It will also get stringy at times and may have bubbles attached.

I followed Sonny's guide on his site here.

I was able to beat this back by quitting the carbon dosing and outcompeting it with MB7.

I could be wrong in my identification but it looked similar to what I had a few months ago.

Thanks arod2051~
Dinoflagellates color can be green not brown? Its color is light green and I can see it from rock too.

Thanks acrylic_300~
I will remove it ASAP like you recommand..

I use MB7 only. I use vodka to replace their carbon source.
