Bring out your rares!!! for the BAR swap

I will get a pic of the lovelli tomarrow when lights are on clint has a good picture at Dimondsinthereef.com in the sps section that is where i got it from

just so nobody gets confused the orange with white polyp cap is mine. nova 67 just took a better pic for me. unfortunatly i dont know the species. it was something i picked up at the new alameda aquatics frag swap.

Ah, I think that was the orange cap that I brought then. I remember you guys picking some of my frags.

The polyps on that one can vary from white to orange.

That piece came from TP. I picked it up when they had their closing sale. In fact, Jim was the one who sold it to me.

Here's a pic of it at the top of my tank under 20k XM

Here's a pic of an abused frag that I've been coloring back up under 20k Radium

mr. ugly i believe you are right. i got the orange monti and some of your electric green birdsnest . both corals are doing great.

Josh, orange caps w/ white polyps are rare. Brian, I would say that any suharsonoi is still pretty rare-green or yellow. I'm used to seeing longer corallites on them though. I'm expect it'll look more typical in person .-Jim

You can bring 2 rare frags of the same strain to pick in the rare group.

You'd bring 2 other strains, which can be non-rare, to meet the entry requirement of 3 strains minimum.

Multiple frags for each of those strains are welcome :)

Btw, here's a strategy that I call the "dilution factor"...

The more frags you put into the swap, the more chances that any rare frag you may want will be on the table in later rounds due to people picking other frags :D

If I remember right, my Leng Sy cap came from a 6th round pick.

Hey another place to exploit my crappy photos! Cool!heheh
Heres an interesting morph w/ flash.

Heres my lovelli, pre-sea hare days obviously :D

and as far as uncommon have you seen alot of these?Heres a new frag I made:
rhodactis.jpg

What I see seperate that rhodactis from others are the tenticle coloration formation if you will. Theres 3 major types I see, the all orangey-tan frills on green base, or the lavender frills on green base, and the common green tipped frills on brown base. This one has blue/lavender tips along the edge with orangy tan frills on green base but also pearly white frills that form a cross pattern like the tongan bullseys. I couldnt stand here and say its the most desirable rho just wondering on how common?

And my official submission
Dirty sanchez Echino( dirty sanchez is to echinata so ya, I can do that!:p heheh)

and the bottom right hand corner, Im equally excited over. Ive been drooling over Atlantis's green granulosa w/ red polyps. You can just make out the green branching frag. Thing is gorgeous.
Very crappy picture, I only get about an hour left of daylight on the tank after I get home from work before it goes to actinic, so this was the only legible one I could pull off.

I try and squeeze some more off tomorrow. Thanks for your interest!

How much of a PITA am I gonna be if I bring my frags in and ask "are these rare?". I know the day of the swap is going to be crazy however, my camera is so crappy you can hardly tell it's a coral let alone a colorful one. BTW, I plan on bringing two chunks of deep red/black chalice, and ORA Marshall Island Lavender Acro, either of those up for consideration?

No problem at all. Perhaps the chalice will do it. You may want to bring 2 frags of that.

Did you snag a big ol rock of that at the LFS?

Very nice, Elite :)
It looks big in the pic but it's not. It's about 2-3" long and 1" wide. I still don't know how to frag it yet because rock is quite thick. :D

Have you seen the color before?? :D

Similar, but not in person.

Use a diamond wheel and cut through the rock below the polyps, then fracture off a patch.

Use a razor to cut through the mat to free your frag.
