hey,

on this new frag of radio active dragon eye zoo there was a large bristle worm lurking around on it. i tried to take it off but had no success. its now somewhere in my rocks.

when i was trying to take it off it stuck up a whole bunch of semi-long white hairs and there were a tond of them all over my fingers!!!!!

Is this bad?? i washed my hands hard and i dont see any really.

is this dangerous that they were all in my hand. there were soft hair like spines. didnt hurt at all.

thanks

Are you worrying about the britstle worm stinging you(did the spines go inside your finger?) or being in the tank because bristle worms aren't bad.

yes bristle worms are not a threat to your inhabitants, if their spines do stick you they supposedly itch a little bit, i have never had this experince though.

the bristles did stick me, there were a whole bunch on my fingers. i am in no pain whatsoever and have no itching either.

i guess there harmless to me?

The bristles can be irritating but not fatal . So if they stick you next time
think elmer's glue yes it's back to school with you kevin . Repeat after me apply , let dry and peel the bristles away without the pain . I've never been stick by the worms but there have been people here that have and that's one of the remedies they've suggested .

i feel nothing at this point, i washed my hands really well...i think that got all the bristles out!

thank you for all the quick responses!

Sometimes people get nasty infections from scrapes, etc. I wear gloves when I work in the tank now, at least when I'm good.

Most bristleworms are beneficial, but some are a problem. Without a picture, I can't guess what type yours was, but most are fine to have.
