Bristletooth tang question

I know most tangs will eat macro algae without a seconds thought but I have found several sources of information indicating the bristletooth tangs will leave Macro's alone and only eat microalgaes. Has anyone had experience either way with these kinds of tangs?

I have a kole that will nibble on fern caulerpa and chaeto, but the macro grows faster than he can consume it for the most part. What types are you thinking? Refugium or display types?

my kole does not eat flame algea. neither does my friends (kole and flame)

I currently have Blade caulerpa, Ochto, titan and red grape in my display, its a softie/macro tank

They leave it alone for the most part because there mouths are different then those of other genus and built for the micro. I guess it's possible for them to consume the softest of macros.

The genus Ctenochaetus is misunderstood in this hobby. These fish are highly detritivorous and not the herbivores that most in the hobby believe them to be. They are poor to marinal performers when it comes to consuming nuisance and micro algaes and will often leave macro algae alone altogether.

Peter agrees with Peter Though I will say they eat micro algae (ie film) just fine, but not macro.

Few Tangs in my tanks but, ironically, the best nuisance algae eater I have is a Potters Angel .... Go figure.
