Bristleworms vs. Squamosa

I know that there is a lot of debate about bristle worms eating clams. It seems that most people are in agreement that bristleworms will only bother dead or dying organisms.
My problem is that I have a ton of bristleworms in my aquarium and I was hoping not to do a fifty dollar experiment with my clam. Right now I am thinning the herd of bristle worms down because it makes me sleep better at night. (I have taken about 30 large bristleworms out of my 58 gallon) My question is how many of you clam keepers could put a clam in a tank knowing that there is a ton of bristleworms present?

Bristleworms are scavengers. They will not attack and eat a healthy clam. If you find your clam decimated with brostleworms it was well on it's way to death already. I have 10 clams or so and never had a problem I also have a ton of bristleworms as well.

Thanks for the replies, it l just looks scary at night when I can spot about 50+ bristleworms with my flashlight. It's not like my tank is large either its only a 58 gallon.

The only place in my tank that you can find a bristleworm is under my clams. Pick a clam up and there are a few dosen happily hanging out. The clams couldnt be healthier.

Yeah, bristleworms yuk me out & I know that they are scavengers but I also keep a fridmani to keep them in check.

My P. Fridmani will take care of the smaller ones during the daytime but I think he's as scared of the big ones as I am!
