Broken SEIO 1500 Magnetic Impeller...

PITSTOP

Good morning,

Recently, I purchased a SEIO 1500 from Premium Aquatics.

I has been in operation in my SPS reef for approx. 2 months.

It is always on; no timers or wavemakers.

About three weeks ago, during regular cleaning of the unit with vinegar, I noticed a hairline crack running the length of the magnetic impeller.

The crack has 'opened up' and there is a crack of equal size of the other side of the magnet as well. This has resulted in the unit being completely inoperable, the impeller is elliptical instead of circular.

I have tried, unsuccessfully multiple times to get into contact with TAAM/RIO for replacement parts.

I have been a loyal customer and have spent thousands at Premium Aquatics, please help me out here.

I had one that did the EXACT same thing within 90 days of purchase. I took it back to the LFS and they replaced it on the spot.

The replacement has been in operation for 10 months now, no problems.

Jeremy,

Any update on replacing the impeller assembly?

The broken impeller magnet is most likely a manufacturing defect.

According to Alarmguy66, "I had one that did the EXACT same thing within 90 days of purchase. I took it back to the LFS and they replaced it on the spot."

Thanks, Adam

Hi,

I do not have any in stock right now, so I have been dilligently trying to get ahold of Rio, with no luck. I am just going to open up a pump and pull the impeller out and ship to you. So the impeller will not have any packaging, etc, just so you are aware of that. I will have it shipped out today.

Thanks,
Jeremy
