Brooklynella after formalin dip? Flukes? Velvet? Bacteria?...

Obviously not. Especially if they are the kind that crawls underneath the scales or are deeply embedded into the slimecoat.

Formalin should have some effect on gill flukes though.

I have read that formalin has worked where prazi failed. Very odd.
Hopefully, these flukes are not invincible.

I still have the goby in isolation in a Lee's Specimen Container and it is not showing the slightest signs of the disease that killed his 3 tank mates.

Despite this I'm quite hesitant to add it to my main system. It still has another month to go anyway, but this fella is clearly immune to whatever killed the other fish of that shipment - the question is just if he is fully immune (= not a host) or just partially immune (= could spread the disease without being sick).

So I plan to get some "canary" fish, freshwater black mollies that I acclimate to saltwater and put with him.
If they stay healthy he goes in the main system.

If formalin and TTM won't work, what on earth do you treat these "skin flukes" with? I have some fish coming from LA tomorrow and I want to hit this head on.

These are basically all the options for monogeneans (false flukes):

Freshwater baths
Hyposalinity
Formalin dips and dosed in the HT
Praziquantel (PraziPro)
Trichlorfon (Dylox) - some are even immune to this or would need doses so high that it would also kill the fish.

Nothing works for all!!!!

With Capsalids it also depends on the fish and if they have large or small scales or none. Large scales may give too much shelter for all the bath solutions to work.

Levamisol and Praziquantel usually work for true flukes (intestinal trematodes) and nematodes.

As for the goby - last night it committed suicide by jumping out :headwally:
