It is huge! 6-7" and it is that green! Another guy that was in on my group buy got an acro with a green base and pink polyps and another with a purple base and white polyps. Amazing... I wanted to keep them

Good eye. I already have the Interceptor, but I've been trying in vain to catch my pistol shrimp for some time so I can treat.

I also make sure (especially with maricultured pieces) to get rid of the bases that come with the corals as they are a haven for pests.

IMO, this is one of the most overlooked methods when QT'ing new arrivals.

Great thread! I am going to put together a group order with some guys from my local club and am wondering do they have shots of the different colonys somewhere or do you just order from the link you posted and get whatever they send?

Unfortunately, you get what they send. There is some leway though. In the notes section, you can make requests. A friend of mine requested all millies and got them, and another requested half millies and half acros and got them. I don't know if you could go so far as to request specific species or not though.

Nothing about the vendor itself. My feeling is that if a coral is looking bad, there may be a reason for it besides just bad lighting etc. and I am extra careful with it. I use the when in doubt throw it out theory as visual inspection is my #1 line of defense against potential preditors followed by vigourous dipping and QT.

I also make sure (especially with maricultured pieces) to get rid of the bases that come with the corals as they are a haven for pests.

A couple of the pieces (the first humilis? and the second) look in particularlly bad shape (i.e. more then just browned out) is why I was curious.

And seminolecpa wins the prize. While I did dip the corals when they arrived (and found a few flatworms along with the usual assortment of pods, worms, mysis, etc), I neglected to get rid of the bases as recommended, and now i have a lovely case of AEFWs :sad1:

Everyone PLEASE be careful out there. Be proactive about keeping pests out of your tank...

Aww man that is horrible!
I just double checked all my smooth skinned acros and i didn't see any flatworms, bite marks, or eggs. I should've basted mine better when i dipped them; i dont think my revive dipping would have phased them if they were on the pieces i got.
Scary stuff... Good luck in getting rid of them through basting
