Hello Victor,

Per your reccomendation, I purchased the TS07 from Marine Depot for my 55 gallon tank. Today I received my TS07 and noticed that the 6000 pump is brown. I know this is an older model and I even wote in my instructions to M.D. to send me the black model only. Shoud I be concerned? What is the difference between the od and new model?

Thank you

Janie

About 1 week of production. Seriously, the black units have been available for maybe 2 weeks the brown ones stopped shipping just about a week ago. If you didn't use it I am sure you can exchange it but their is no real difference besides color.

Thank you Roger (sorry about the name typo). I just recevied it yesterday and have not used it since my tank is not set up yet.

Honestly, the brown doesn't even stick out. I was bummed when I got mine last week and they were brown but it doesn't look bad.

Why were they brown anyway?

We started making aquarium products over 40 years ago. At the time freshwater aquariums were almost all their was. Brown and gren was chosen because they look natural like wood and plants. Just as green became Eheims signature color, Brown became ours. We resisited changing to black because everyone elses pumps were black and we were always the blue box with the brown pumps and filters. Claude from Tunze France pushed for black, it was largely just marketing.

thank you for that explanation Roger.

In your reply you state there is no real difference. Are you saying they are exactly the same except the color? Are the black ones not a little better mechanically or whatever?

Nope, they are the exact same pump made with the exact same plastic, only the tinting agent is charged from brown to black. Newer pumps should include the new 6080.23 whether the pump was black or brown which is the only recently changed piece.

It is the sliding piece for the rail, the post the pump mounts on, new ones have a stand off to increase the swivel radius.

Hi Roger,

Can you please verify that this is the piece that I need in order to maximize the swivel problem and to connect it to the magnet (hyperlink below)? I did not receive this piece even in the brown pump Marine Depot sent me. So, it looks like they sent me an older pump anyway. No wonder, I could not figure out how to mount the pump to the magnet, I thought maybe I took a dumb pill that day. Please advise!

That picture shows the old one, the pump should include a new one like in my picture- note the post is farther from the clip. If it was missing PM me an address.
