I'm not so clued in on how these work.

Is this something I can only hook up to get water for my tank then unhook it?

How much water does it waste per gallon?

My kitchen sink has one of those pull down sprayers right on the faucet so I'm not sure how I could even go about hooking it up?

Is DI that much better? I get RO free from a local place.

thanks :)

I suppose you could hook it up when you only need to make water. It just sounds like a lot of work to me.

There are options: You could tap into the cold water line under the sink or in the laundry room etc.

RO water is better than Tap water, but it still doesn't filter out harmful things and is only removing only 96-98% of the bad things, some can go high as 99%. Yes, it's clean enough to drink but it can still contain trace amounts of metals like copper, chlorine and chloramine, phosphates and many other compounds. The DI gives you the purest water possible.

Wastewater for typical RO/DI is usually around 4 gallons for each 1 gallon made.

thank you. I'm sure I could probably figure out how to do it myself and hide it from my husband lol! He'd get mad if he knew I bought that, he doesn't understand all of this and why I'd "need" that. When I can get RO free. I do have .25 phosphate in my tank so I put a phosphate reducer in my canister filter.

Careful with po4 reducer. Dropping phosphates too fast can be harmful. With that level they will probably be leaching from the rocks for a while.
