BTA closed up

Okay do I have had a BTA in my tank for about 2 weeks now. First week opened up and looking good. Second week he has been closed up. Foot looks good and mouth is not gaping. Should I just leave him alone or try to move him to a different location?

Leave him alone. As long as the mouth is not gaping he should be fine.

That is what I was thinking I just wanted to hear it from someone else. I feel like a crazy person staring at this thing trying to figure out what is wrong if anything.

Has this tank been running for 6+ months? If not it may be not be mature enough to sustain stable water condition. Tank looks small, is it like a 10 or 5 gallon tank?

What are your water params? Temp? Do you use RODI? Do you keep salinity stable by topping off daily? Do you have a refractometer and is it calibrated? I've added few BTAs in my tiny fluval spec V and they've not looked like that after a week.

The tank has been up for 6 months. It is a 75 gallon, that is just a tiny corner of it.

Params are good I will measure them tonight and post the results. I use rodi and have an ato that tops off for me. I do have a caled refractometer.

How are your other corals doing? This might be long shot but did you change or start using a new bucket or box of salt? I switched salt brand that was on sale for really cheap at a LFS and my corals started slowly dying on me. I could not figure out why. Around that time I got a iodine and iodide test kit. When I tested the water it tested positive for elemental iodine which is harmful. I tested my usual IO reef crystals it was negative. Since then I've only used IO and everything is good. I can't say 100% that was the culprit but worth looking into. You can remove elemental iodine with Prime. You may want to try dosing your tank with that and see its reaction over the next week.

The other corals are doing great.

Sadly the anemone didn't make it. I came home today and the mouth was gaping open there was a foul stench coming off of him.
