BTA doing poorly after shipment

I'm slowly acclimating a BTA after shipment. I just bought two, but after a UPS overnight, one is doing badly. I put a light (5200K fug light) on it, and I'm slowly acclimating it with a drip. The mouth is slightly open, but it didn't smell bad when I took it out of the bag. Is there anything else I should do?

The other one looks great, has attached it's foot, and is moving around. Seems happy to be alive.

(btw, how do I post pictures?)

Okay, I have a pic:

Where did you buy it from? I hear it is very difficult to get them to survive a shipment. I also know that they can look really bad one day and perk up the next. Hopefully yours will bounce back.

I don't like the way it looks, what with the curly brown things on so many of its tentacles ... it seems like it's decaying :( Hopefully, you have stellar water conditions for it to pull through. Good luck!

Iwhat with the curly brown things on so many of its tentacles ...

I think it's tank scum from it's previous habitat. :)

It was moving it's tentacles last night, so I had a bit of hope. I didn't want to put it the tank, so I left it last night with air & heater, but it's completely wilted this morning. I think it's a lost cause.

My second one is in my tank being loved on my it's clowns.

Actually the stuff you see all over it most likely is stuff it regurgitated out.. That is what it looks like to me.

Actually it does not look too bad to me yet.. It is deflated but it is normal after shipping... It has good color....

The only thing that bothers me is the gaping mouth which could be due to stress....

The stuff around the mouth on the left side I can not make out if that is tissue or not, if it is it may have a ruff time..

I would put it in your tank in medium flow and lower light for now. Due not try to feed it for a couple of days and keep an eye on it.
give it some time to rest up from all the stress..

Premium aquatics is a good place to order from.

Hopefully it will be ok. Here's mine, in the bag) when I got it 2 1/2 years ago

They are pretty ugly after shipping, aren't they Debi? But I told you they were tough!

Do a big water change, get a split. :D

I have to agree. I'm in contact with them, but I'm waiting to see if can get this guy to survive.

Just when I think it's dead, it tightens up and looks a lot better.... It's still in a bucket as I don't want to move it. I did a quick water change with tank water that I acclimated it with. I'll add a soft light for a few hours later on.

fatdaddy, its nice to see your asking good questions. Your anemone in question doesn't actually look all that bad compared to the ones that I have seen come in before (which looked way worse). Just do a good water change. Hopefully it will turn around for you.

Good luck

Kevin mine has only split once!

If you've been feeding them regularly, do a 30%-50% water change and you'll probably have four within a few days.

I would also get it in my tank. If detrus can settle on the tentacles, there isn't enough flow. It also needs light. It will likely bleach without some low-moderate lighting. If I'm wrong, someone correct me, but I think you need to get it in your tank.

You're right. I'm aerating the water so it has a gentle flow now and I have a 6000K light on it for a few hours. I'll send another pic out later.

oh, good! i'm glad to hear that it's doing better, and that the curly brown things on it were just detritus :) When I received mine from an online vendor, it came, and its tentacles were distengrating and eventually died, which was why i was concerned ... but g'luck w/this guy!

I think it's toast. It went back and forth, and the foot did attach to the bottom of the bucket. I feel bad because I do think it had a chance. Perhaps if .....
