Got this guy as a hitch hiker on a coral. It was about the size of a dime and has grown very fast in the 3 months i have had him, hardy as hell

How big is it now? It doesn't look like a BTA to me. The tentacles are much too orderly.
How big do majanos get, because that is what it looks like to me.

thats my rose, i don't think its a majanos it does not split and it acts just like the rose. the tips are very cool i was thinking it must be a bud from another BTA

Seeing that those pics are of two animals, Vis-a-vis the one from the first post my thoughts are with Phil's until some better pics come along.

Final judgement reserved however...

If it is that big, it's not a majano. At least I've never heard of one approaching anything near that size. I still think BTA myself.

I looked up majano online to find out how large they get, their size ranges from 1 1/2 to 2 inches, so you can rule out majano based on the fact that yours is much larger than that.

There is another non-hosting anemone that comes in once in a while that is usually just listed as a "reef anemone". They also have bulbed tentacles. The upward curve of the outer tentacles and the symetrical arrangement of the tentacles is not a BTA characteristic.

It is somewhat different looking than the usual BTA, but I thought it might just be a variant. I've seen pics of some in the wild that have a different look than any I've seen in shops. It would be interesting to see if a clownfish that is a natural symbiont with a BTA would go to it--hopefully the anemone wouldn't eat it.
