BTA in Gyre

Yeah, I never put mine on since I only had the one RBTA and it was too late. I figured it would get dirty quick. Nice review and comparison. Yours definitely is the better option, should I ever attempt an RTBA again.

My nem kind of plateaued after the last pic I posted, and then it stopped inflating. Its mouth was always tight, but it only had little nubs for tentacles. It looked like this for close to a month so I finally decided to take action and I ordered cipro last week. It came in the mail yesterday, so I set up a hospital tank and moved the nem over. Hopefully the treatment helps.

Here is a picture of the nem just before I removed it from the tank.

And here is a picture about a half hour after I put it in the hospital tank with the cipro.

When I woke up this morning it was attached to the glass and expelling stuff. It didn't look like the pictures I've seen on a nem expelling zooxanthellae, so hopefully it was just waste, and it's a good sign.

I'll keep this thread updated for anyone following.

Gyre makes foam guards. I use them on my Vortechs and although it's annoying to clean every few days you get the peace of mind knowing this won't happen.

Not looking happy tonight. This is right after a water change and adding second dose of cipro.

That picture is looking straight down. The tank is bare bottom and the wood is the desk top that the tank is sitting on.

Just did a water change and gave the third dose.
Still not inflated, but its mouth isnt gapiping as bad as last night.

When I got home from work yesterday, the nem wasn't looking good. I started feeling like the cipro was doing more harm than good because it never looked this bad in my DT. But then I noticed the heater wasn't working and the tank was cold. I replaced the heater and did a water change, added the forth dose of Cipro, and shortly after the nem started looking better.

These pictures are from last night after the water was back up to temp. Its mouth is puffy, but closed, and it is more inflated than it has been while in the HT.

Only time my anenome puffs it's mouth like that is a feeding response wanting food have you tried feeding it ?

It's been puffy like that for a few days now. I'm hesitant to feed it while it's in the hospital tank though since there isn't any biological filtration just daily water changes.
