BTA--looking bad

Ok yesterday i bought my little babie clowns a nice bta to live in. it was 4 times their size. It attached on the back side of the tank. this morning when i whoke up it's still attaches but it's so deflated. i check my water levels. which everything is good.

temp-81.7
sal-1.024
PH-8.2
nitrite-0ppm
ammonia-0ppm
nitrate-0ppm
calicum-400

I then checked out my water flow. i'm currently running a maxijet 900 and a koralia 1 . So just to add more flow i added a 301 powerhead in the middle. Does this seem too low or high of a flow? i was trying to achieve the moderate flow for my 29 gal tank. Is this pretty normal for a BTA?

How long has the tank been running? If its been under 8-10 mths then the tank is not mature enough for a anemone!! Some time the anemones will deflate themselves during acclamation, just trying to get comfortable!

Don't know flow rates of those.
30-40x turnover should be about right.
I wouldn't point straight at the nem.
Nem should be in medium flow area, tents gently moving.

when we accimate, we are tryin to get them used to (hopefully) comparable but different water conditions, so we do it slowly as not to shock them--the problem is that is only outside water...the nem has to now 'acclimate' (more likely 'replace') his inside water.

if he keeps his foot attached, color looks good, and it is repeated--inflates/deflates/inflates--then it is most likely just venting and replacing.

if he throws up his guts and/or his mouth gapes open, then you've got issues :)

good luck!

I personally would leave the tank alone for at least a few days to let it acclimate.
If flow is too heavy where it's at, it will move.

You're probably more stressed than the nem!LOL
I find it best to pretty much leave them alone as much as possible at first.
I wouldn't even stress feeding maybe the first week, if it eats it does if not leave it be, especially as long as you have proper light.

Yeah i have a t5 ho.. nova extreme.. i'm updating my bulbs as soon as they come in .. anemone is real pretty green with a tint of blue with pink tips.. i wish i could take a pic.. but it's on the side at the back of the tank.. i wish it would move to the front.. but oh well.. it's puffed out alot..

Keep an eye on it, make sure its still eating. Ours moved to the back of the tank, quit eating and then died. It was also very difficult to feed it when it was back there.

i tried feeding it a silver side tonight. but it just held on to it and act like it was going to eat it.. but just let it go.. but's real huge.

Alot of people stress on it eating the first week, and many times they don't until they have acclimated.
Light seems to be the primary energy source for nems.

Sounds like you anemone is behaving normally. Keep your water quality up, your lights on, and food available and it should do fine. Just make sure that intakes to your powerheads are covered because the BTA might keep moving around until it finds a place to settle down.

My anemone took about a month to settle in. I was new to anemones, but it certainly had me stressed for quite some time. I kept squirting a little mysis every day to see if it would take it (I knew my fish would eat it if the nem didn't). After a few weeks, it started to perk up, and is now eating and behaving consistently. Just make sure you're water quality is good.

One thing I did read is that adding some Poly Filter can help remove some "unknown" irritants from your tank. I think it helped mine.

i'll get some tomorrow.. i'm just not happy with it's location! i think i'm going to buy me a protein skimmer for my tank altho kinda clueless on that mess.. i had a prizsm one.. thing went whack-o and leaked water..
