bta removal ?

my rbta has split and i only have room for one. both nems have secured there feet in deep holes of the same rock. really rather not break the rock. was thinking i could maybe cut at the base of the nem like a chistmas tree ? ?

NO DON'T DO THAT!!! Lift the rock out of the water and gently use your nail to peel the foot loose or hold the rock in the flow of a powerhead and the foot might release.

foot deep in hole. tried lifting out of water. bta just retracts inside of rock. there is no clear access to the foot. i'll try the power head later. haven't tried ice. my guess the rbta will just retract into the rock.

I had the same exact problem as you,

My GBTA had attached its foot really really deep into a rock, so i just grabbed an airstone and i put it under it where i could find an opening and let the bubbles come and as its foot came up it gave me access to the base deep inside the rock, finally after about 5 minutes i was able to get it under the very bottom of the foot and it popped right out

It worked alot better for me because i tried to peel it off but it was very deep in the rock and the ice didnt work for me neither did blowing with the powerhead because i did this for about a half hour and all i managed to do was **** it off royally

just be careful to not damage the foot too much. try to not even damage it at all if you can.

kind of a P.I.T.A the mother is in a perfect spot hosting my black o's. i know people chop bta's in half all the time. just don't know about chopping at the knee's. the rock is easy to take out. i'll try the airstone. if that does'nt work maybe put the rock in a bucket and motivate it to move.

bubbled with rigid airline for 30 mins. seemed to stress, did not release.

I feel for you. My rbta just split and I need to remove the smaller of the two. I was able to make the nem move a few weeks ago, before the split, by aiming a powerhead (mj900) directly at it's foot. I'm hoping I can use the same method to get the small one to move enough to pry it off the rock.

If you take the rock out of the tank, hold it upside down, and tap on it with a hammer. The vibration will normally cause it to release.

I had the same problem just yesterday. The only way I could see where the foot ended was to take a small set of pliers that looked like needle-noses, but had a blade edge instead of flat edged and cut chucks out of the rock until I could get the piece of the rock the anemone was attached to.
