My green BTA split about a week ago. How long usually before They form mouths so I can feed them again?

I usually start feeding mine in about a week to 10 days. Is yours not healing right?

Can you see the mouths? do they look healed and functional? if so start with some mysis, see if they eat it or let it hit the sand. if they eat it, your in good. continue with the mysis for a month or so, and then switch back to small chunks of silversides. IMO of course.

Thanks for the reply.
Before it split, I was feading it one large silverside or two smaller ones weekly. It was a good 10''-11'' accross. The way they're situated on the rocks I cannot see the mouths yet but they look very healthy. I'll try to feed them something.

Usually about 4-5 days. Do a 20 percent water change though. It will take any excess stress of your BTA and will quicken the healing process.

Sorry to say that one of them got blended up in a powerhead :(
My wife and I went away for the weekend and came back to just one. Figures, It decided to move when I'm gone pretty much for one day. Oh well! the other one is under a rock where I cannot really feed it, though. It's been over a week now since it had any kind of food. Do ya think it'll be OK?

I'm getting ready to do a water change now.

Ouch! Cover those powerheads. A week is not a long time for a BTA to go without food. Definately keep an eye on your water parameters with a anemone going through a powerhead.

After reading a couple threads and hearing some of the foods that people feed their anemones, i had a question. I have a BTA that a got about 2 weeks ago ad i have been feeding it mysis and table shrimp. No one else seems to mention shrimp as a menu item, is there a reason or are krill and silverslides just more nutritious then raw, peeled shrimp i got from my local deli for pennies?
